Terrible, terrible in all aspects. Please don't book this place and I'm coming from a place of concern especially solo female travelers visiting Hong Kong for the first time. I was there for Chinese New Year and booked 4 nights on this place. I had to check out immediately for the following reasons: ROOM: No AC, no safe to lock your valuables and a window that could fit a person is open. Safety is a zero. STAFF: Rude, defensive and unprofessional. LOCATION: The area is a good location to be but given that, there's better options just on a nearby street. The building itself is a dodgy place. The photos online are totally misleading. NO! Please do your research before booking on this place. I should've taken pictures of the place to add as reminder to others.

This is the worst hostel I've ever stayed at in Asia. Avoid this scam. It DOESN'T LOOK like on the pictures. There are absolutely no pros. It's dirty, overpriced (believe me, it is, it offers no value at all), stinks of garbage and rot, no one cleans the place, there are rats (!!!), bugs and cockroaches. Also, in my dorm there were 3 safes for 6 people in one dorm (!!!), one stinky bathroom+toilet for 3 dorms (3x6 people!), long waiting lines to the elevator that looks like it's going down to hell and it's often dangerously overloaded. Also, you will be offered counterfeits goods and drugs and prostitutes services by the entrance and inside of the building. Also, the place is extremely hard to navigate, there are hardly any clear signs, it's easy to get lost when you first arrive. ***And the best one- I WAS CHARGED some sort of "SERVICE FEE" (there's no service! No drinking water, no nothing, no one even cleans the bathroom, it's all dirty) which was 65 HKD!! Even though I booked through Traveloka and it says "Tax inclusive". Then I moved to another hostel (cheaper and at least 50x better) and there was no additional charged. So I guess I was scammed. Avoid this place at all costs. ALL OTHER HOSTELS outside of this hellish building Chungking Mansion are 50x better and also, what's the most surprising - WAY CHEAPER. This joke of a place was 26 USD on the day when I was leaving it. I found a hostel for 19 USD in the same area (+250000% to the quality of life, heaven vs. hell) and my friend found a SINGLE ROOM accomodation on Hong Kong island for about 12 USD, and it was sunday. This place should be closed.

Simply horrific. Rats in the laundry room, a room smaller than a jail cell which stank of sewage, and endless waits for dangerously crowded lifts. Ridiculous that it is legal.

Dangerous - DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL - Manger lies and left me and my family in the street. My plane was delayed and I called the manger who assured me that he would be able to accommodate my past 1am arrival. I also used a booking-dot-com booking service who also called him and he made the same assurance an hour later. When we arrived with my wife and two kids after 1am we called, buzzed, knocked, and eventually pounded on the outside of the 24 lobby for 30 minutes / went to the 6th floor - pounded on the other door - then rang the bell - knocked and eventually pounded again and no one came. And then went back to the lobby again - rang the bell again and pounded on the door for another half hour before giving up and started calling you and other hotels. This hotel is completely disreputable and dishonest. The elevator was broken - so we walked between all floors. Manger didn't mention this. My son was positioned for both drugs and sex during the several hours of waiting outside the hotel. It is a seedy place and given the hours I was there almost understandable. But to flat out lie multiple times is not a good justness proactive. It is not just inconvenient- it is dangerous. Do not stay here.
