  Typical Apple store where you can play with the products. The sales assistants are friendly and not intimidating. Everyone seems to be helpful.

  Ground floor is currently under refurbishment. We cannot get into the shop on ground floor which is a little inconvenient.

  The guy at Genius Bar made me loose my megasafe power adaptor by rushing to conclude my repair and finish his job. He picked up my MacBook Pro not caring about my adaptor, without clear guidance, made me follow his way to his storage room. He said good bye end up losing the adaptor.

  I don’t usually write negative reviews, but my experience at this location’s genius bar was so egregiously bad that I want to forewarn potential customers. I was at this location between 8:30 — 9:30pm on March 23rd, 2018. The staff refused to acknowledge and document the electrical sparking I experienced while using an Apple power adapter. The MagSafe power adapter of my MacBook Pro overheats when charging. Even when placed in well-ventilated environments, the brick and the magnetic tip would become so hot that anyone who grazes them by accident flinches. Yesterday evening, electric sparks flew from the cable at the point where it joined the magnetic tip. The insulating plastic melted and there were ruptures exposing the wires beneath. Instead of reporting all of this to Apple, the staff, to my astonishment, tried to sell me a new adapter. One staff member gave me his ill-educated explanation of the “physics of a power adapter” (does he just assume that a female customer would not have the scientific training to correct him?) and attempted to convince me that it was normal for an old adapter to overheat and burn. My MagSafe power adapter was new on June 29th, 2016 — it is past its one-year warranty, but not nearly old enough for me to expect an electrical fire hazard from its usage. I am disgusted by the brazen dishonesty of the genius bar staff members at this Causeway Bay branch. The safety concerns surrounding Apple’s MagSafe power adapters are well-documented in reviews on Amazon and the online Apple Store. That Apple has failed to remedy this defect is one problem. That the repair staff feigns ignorance of this systemic, ongoing safety hazard is both deceitful and dishonorable. They were presented with irrefutable evidence of an electric rupture. If you are experiencing similar safety issues with your Mac gear, I suggest you report it at another branch, or if it can wait, bring it back to your home country. The amoral hucksters on the second floor of this building are a waste of life.
