Uma Nota is a trendy, casual restaurant on the corner of Hollywood Rd. and Peel Street in Central. They specialise in Brazilian-Japanese fusion street. Opening hours are 6pm until late during weekdays and from 12.30 until late on Weekends. We dined here recently trying their weekend brunch. Service was awkward and dishes of mixed quality. However, the atmosphere was rather fun. As a positive, all dishes were very attractive and quite photogenic. For brunch, we tried both smaller dishes. The Dadinhos de tapioca is a serving of fried tapioca cubes. They were somewhat bland in flavour. However, the sweet chilli sauce made helped make this a decent starter. We preferred the Pasteís de carne seca, Brazilian style fried wontons with beef and cheese filling. The dumplings were fried well and the jerked beef and cheese tasted good. The star of the meal for us was the Vegetarian Ceviche. These were attractive bowls, a bit more sauce than we like with ceviche but the flavours of the ingredients were rich and full. This was a very tasty serving, one well worth returning for. The two mains we tried with brunch were just ok. The Costela de porco, a slow cooked rib wasn't cooked evenly. One rib was soft and succulent, the other was quite dry and the chewy. We didn't expect that. The two ribs came with plenty of sauce quite heavy in chilli powder of perhaps smoked paprika. Potato side was good. Overall, not a great ribs serving for what you can find in Hong Kong. Interestingly and you'll see from the submitted picture, our rib serving was rather small, just two ribs. The same order was served to tables on both sides of us. Both were considerably larger than ours with less potatoes to fill their plates. That was awkward. We also tried the Robalo assado em folha de bananeira (+HK$40). This was a nicely grilled half fillet of Sea Bass, topped with tomato and red onions and served with a side of fried banana. This was a decent main, more enjoyed than the ribs. To end brunch, we were served up a coconut milk dessert with mint. This was sweet, very tasty and something we would happily order again. Oddly, portion sizes were very uneven again. One of our desserts was at least a 1/3 smaller than the other. Especially after the smaller rib main we were served, this felt off putting even if the desserts tasted great. In the end, we had mixed feelings about the quality of the food served and the uneven service we experienced. This will likely keep us away for the time being. However, we liked the ambience and vibe of Uma Nota and can recommend this place for groups of friends interested in trying something interesting and different. I don't believe we have another restaurant specialising in this unique cuisine from the Sao Paulo, Brazil here in Hong Kong.

Nice comfort place with beautiful cocktails. A long walk to the place since it's on the middle of a hill (if you know the shortcut wouldn't be too hard to get there). The portion of food is very small to me but they taste great when together with cocktails. Good place worth to visit if you're looking for somewhere to relax and chill.

Octopus salad was ultra fresh, almost like in Italy’s coastal parts. The tagliata was of decent quality as was the craft beer. A bit pricey but good vibe and products. Thanks

Cool setup, interesting menu, friendly and attentive service. We went for brunch. Unfortunately, the food was fine overall but not spectacular. Except for the the miso eggplant which was delicious. The pork ribs were amazingly well cooked but the sauce was disappointing. The octopus was fine, the cheese and tapioca cubes were OK. The dessert was tasty. Will give it a 4 to encourage others to go at least once because the menu is very original and it's worth trying once but cant say with confidence that you'll love the food.
